After breakfast embark on sightseeing trip of Delhi City which would include the visit to Old Delhi and New Delhi

New Delhi : The city designed and built by the British in the 1920’s- a city of wide boulevards impressive Government Buildings, green parks and gardens. Delhi- Indore (Flight)-Mandu (77 Kms, 02 Hrs by surface)
After an early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport to board Indore flight. On arrival you are met and assisted by our local representative and then drive to Mandu via Omkareshwar.

Omkareshwar is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. Ujjain is a historic capital of Central India in Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain is also home to the “Kumbha Mela”, when Jupiter resides in the zodiac sign of Scorpio. Here visit “Mahakaleshwar Temple” of Lord Shiva with its lingam is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple has an idol of Omkareshwara Shiva consecrated in the sanctum above the Mahakal Shrine. The temple also has images of Ganesh, Parvati, Kartikeya and Shiva's Bull, Nandi. Trichy / Madurai

After breakfast, embark on an excursion to Bhimbetka, it lies 46 kms South of Bhopal. In this rocky terrain of dense forest and craggy cliffs, over 600 rock shelters belonging to the Neolithic age were recently discovered. Here in vivid panoramic detail, paintings in over 500 caves depict the life of the pre-historic cave-dwellers. Executed mainly in red and white with the occasional use of green and yellow, the scenes usually depict hunting, dancing, music, horse and elephant riders, animals fighting, honey collection, decoration of bodies, disguises, masking and household scenes. Popular religious and ritual symbols also occur frequently.

Return to Bhopal. Evening you will be met and assisted while checking-out and transferred to the railway station to board overnight train for Umaria.

Arrive Umaria-Bandhavgarh (32 Kms, 01 Hr by surface)
After arrival at 1040 hrs in Umaria you will be met, assisted and transferred from railway station to your hotel at Bandhavgarh.

Post Lunch, enjoy bird watching and a walk to visit the ancient “Bandhavgarh Fort”, located on a plateau and can be reached after a steep climb. The fort is now in ruins, its monuments and tanks being gradually reclaimed by the forest thus providing additional shelter for wildlife.

Once the hunting preserve of the Maharajas of Rewa, where an alarming number of tigers were hunted down in pre-independence India. Today, the Bandhavgarh National Park is a compact reserve (448 sq. km) of sal trees, bamboo thickets and grasslands, teeming with birds and animals and the highest population of tigers anywhere in India. The park is now home to 22 species of wildlife, including the regal ‘gaur’, umpteen varieties of deer and carnivores such as the striped hyena, jungle cat and sloth bear and over 250 species of birds. Within the park is the Bandhavgarh Fort now in ruins and largely overrun by the surrounding forest.

In the afternoon enjoy a visit to the Khajuraho temples (World Heritage site). The epochal creations are an unsurpassed Indian contribution to human civilization.

These temples completed a thousand years of their existence in 1999. The timeless temples we see today have a unity of structure. The voluptuous sculptures appear to be celestial and alive. The main focus is on woman and varying facets of her life. The temples are clustered in groups in the west, east and the south. They all have the entrance in their eastern side. An architectural marvel - the complex of 85 temples were constructed by the Chandela kings. Of them only 22 survive today. A new one was excavated recently. It is said to be the largest of them all. The temples have sublime and sensuous sculptures, portraying a journey into eternity.

Khajuraho-Gwalior (260 Kms, 07 Hrs by surface)

It was built in 1620. Erected on a rocky ridge, the Bir Singh Palace has many underground chambers excavated in the rock but they remain hidden from view.

“Gwalior Fort” dominates the city and is its most magnificent monument. A steep road winds upwards to the Fort, flanked by statues of Jain tirthankaras carved into the rock face. The magnificent outer walls of the Fort still stand two miles in length and 35 feet high. Within the fort are some marvels of medieval architecture. The 15th century “Gujari Mahal” is a monument depicting the love of Raja Mansingh Tomar for his Gujar queen, Mrignayani. Also built by Raja Mansingh is the “Man Mandir Palace” built between 1486 and 1517.

“The Teli ka Mandir” is a 9th century edifice, towering at 100 ft high. This is a Pratihara Vishnu temple of a unique blending of architectural styles. Though the principal structure was built by Akbar, many more additions were made by his grandsons. This massive fort is 2.5 Kms long and is considered the predecessor of the Red Fort of New Delhi.

Fatehpur Sikri: A fascinating ghost town lies little beyond Agra the deserted Red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. It was a veritable fairy tale city and its ruins are still in a pristine condition. It is not hard to imagine what the court life would have been like in the days of its grandeur. Set like a jewel in a court yard of pink sandstone is the marble tomb of Saint Salim Chisti, enclosed by delicately carved marble screens.

Amer Fort : 11 Kms from Jaipur- A marvelous example of Rajput architecture with its terraces and reflected in Matao lake below. The magnificent old Citadel, a labyrinth of massive walls and towers, shrouds an exquisite marble palace, pillared and carved glimmering with a million tiny mirrors, which creates tanatalising reflection effect. City Palace Museum : An imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art. The museum is resplendent with its collection of robes of royal princess, carpets an armoury of old weapons , miniature paintings portraying court scenes , battle scenes and processions.

Jantar Mantar : (Observartory): Jantar Mantar, built between 1728 and 1734, literally means the ‘instruments for measuring the harmony of the heavens’. Jai Singh, the brain behind the grand project, chose stone with marble facing. This was the biggest of all his observatories and the only one built of stone. He used it daily, often with his astronomy gurus Pandit Jagannath and Kewal Ram. In all there are 17 instruments in the Jantar Mantar complex.
